This week’s Opposition View is with Andrew Georgeson of Cambridge News

How have Cambridge started the season?

I think Cambridge’s start to the season has been about par for what they would have wanted. They have been very good in games against Coventry and Forest Green Rovers, then were very unlucky against Mansfield and were pretty poor at Swindon Town and Southampton under-21s this week.

Who are your key players?

Uche Ikpeazu is top scorer this season with five in all competitions and has looked really good this year, scoring a few different type of goals alongside his physicality. A lot of his development has been aided by Jabo Ibehre, who joined from Carlisle, who has finally allowed Derry to play two up front.

What are the hopes for Cambridge this season?

I think that reaching the play-offs has to be the aim. We have been in and around there the past two seasons and when Cambridge are firing they are very entertaining and have two of the in-form strikers in the league. I think injuries could be key this season – with Ade Azeez ruled out for the rest of the campaign already – leaving only Uche Ikpeazu, Jabo Ibehre and Matt Foy, an academy product, available as out and out strikers.

What are your thoughts on Wycombe?

I think there’s a lot of similarities between the two teams in terms of what is expected this season, and I fully expect Wycombe and Cambridge to both be there or there about. Obviously you guys are in pretty good form going into this and the U’s have had a bit of a difficult week with defeats against Southampton under-21s and Swindon Town.

Prediction?

At home, I think Cambridge will probably be able to see this one out with a 2-1 win.
