Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth has rewarded striker Nathan Tyson with a one-year extension to his contract, keeping him at Adams Park until June 2019.

Tyson, 35, has excelled in his first season back with the Wanderers after rejoining last summer, having hit 44 goals in a prolific two-year spell towards the start of his career.

With seven goals in 33 appearances so far this term, including crucial strikes in victories over Colchester, Luton and Crewe (twice), Tyson has rewarded the faith shown in him last summer by manager Ainsworth who says there is more to come from the pacy forward.

He said: “Nathan has had a fantastic season for us so far and proved to everyone that he still possesses the pace and ability in front of goal that has helped him enjoy a long and successful career.

“He overcame a serious injury in October and worked hard to battle back to full fitness within two months, and his experience – particularly in recent weeks – has been hugely important in our frontline, helping us collect some valuable points which we hope will help us achieve our goal this season.

“Tys is a popular lad in the changing room and fits in well with the culture we’ve got here, so it wasn’t a difficult decision at all to reward him with a new contract and we know he’ll continue to have a big part to play next season.”
