Wycombe legend Matt Bloomfield hailed an 'incredible' day as he scored the only goal of the game against Stevenage at Adams Park on Saturday.

Bloomfield seized upon a loose ball, drove towards goal and calmly slotted past Joe Fryer in a game the Blues had control of.

After the game, Bloomfield was full of admiration for what the squad had achieved over the course of the season.

He said: "It has been incredible.

"To equal the record points for a Wycombe team in the league, to celebrate with my family and all the supporters and to score the only goal of the game is incredible.

"Paris was brilliant all game, the ball fell to me and thought I might as well have a go and luckily it went in."

Bloomfield received a standing ovation when substituted in the second half and was overwhelmed with the support he received.

He added: "It was amazing. I knew I was going to come off and it was great for Beany to come on as he has been amazing this season.

"To score the goal, you couldn't have written it any better and it was just an incredible moment.

"You have tough times in football but it is all worth it for days like this.

"It was incredible to lift the silver salver. Adam El-Abd has been an incredible captain for us and he wanted to lift it together.

"As club captain, I was more than proud to do that.

"The spirit has really carried us through. We have had some tough times but we have bounced back so well and the boys deserve a lot of accolades."
