Wycombe keeper Scott Brown will leave Adams Park this summer at the end of his contract to explore opportunities elsewhere, after holding talks with manager Gareth Ainsworth yesterday.

The goalkeeper, 33, played in every league game this season as the Chairboys gained promotion to Sky Bet League 1, having signed a two-year deal in July 2016 and also won the Official Wycombe Wanderers Supporters Association player of the season award.

Ainsworth said: “Scott was very honest and explained that he’s had interest from elsewhere which better suits his home life and enables him to be closer to his family.

"He’s had a fantastic season for us and will always be fondly remembered not just as one of the club’s promotion-winning heroes, but as a hugely popular guy with his team-mates and with the fans.

“He will go on to do a brilliant job for another club and he leaves us with nothing less than our very best wishes and our heartfelt thanks for everything he’s contributed to Wycombe Wanderers.”

Also departing the club this summer will be defenders Will De Havilland and Max Muller, and young goalkeeper Henry Newcombe, who spent the season on loan with non-league outfit Canvey Island.

Ainsworth added: “Will and Max both found it hard to break into the side due to the strong competition for places in defence, and we felt it was best for all parties to give them the opportunity to look for first-team football elsewhere.

"Henry was someone we wanted to have a look at more closely in training and in matches for Canvey Island, but he isn’t yet ready to challenge for the number 1 jersey and we’ve decided to let him go.

“They’ve been brilliant to work with and gave their full support to the other lads when they weren’t in the team. I hope our paths cross again and that they’re able to enjoy long, successful careers in the game.”

Meanwhile, Ainsworth has offered a new deal to defender Sido Jombati, while talks are ongoing with out-of-contract trio Joe Jacobson, Marcus Bean and Yves Ma-Kalambay.

Loanees Nathan McGinley, Tafari Moore, Randell Williams, Dan Scarr and Curtis Thompson have returned to their parent clubs at the end of their loan spells.
