Table-topping Blues take three points from nine
MARK Bartley is not worried that Saturday’s draw at Ardley made it three league games without a win for his league-leaders.
Marlow were held 1-1 at Ardley, with Bartlety’s brother Michael scoring their goal with his head.
But after draws with Thame and Ascot it means the Blues have managed just three Hellenic Premier League points out of a possible nine.
Bartley said: “I’m not really worried. We’re still playing well and Saturday was probably our best performance for a little while.
“Yes, they’re draws and we want to win every game so from that perspective it’s disappointing.
“But Ardley are a top two or three side, we drew with Thame and should have won, and we’ve taken four points from Ascot, who are also a top side.
“In context, it’s not the worst set of results. We’re still top and everything is in our hands. It could be worse.”
Saturday’s draw was one of those games that got away for Marlow though, as they did everything but win.
Bartley said: “I thought we were the better side. We hit the crossbar a few times, their keeper made a good save and I thought we should have had a penalty.
“The goal we conceded was a soft one and it’s ended up costing us two points.
“We need to work on that because that shouldn’t happen, but I’m not concerned.”
Marlow will be looking to rediscover the winning habit when Wokingham & Emmbrook are the visitors tomorrow.
Bartley’s men knocked them out of the FA Vase less than two weeks ago and the Marlow manager is hoping for the same again.
He said: “That game might have an impact on the way they set-up, but we won’t be changing anything.”
