WASPS hope that Joe Launchbury will be the first of many to sign new deals at the club.

Christian Wade agreed a contract extension during the summer and now Launchbury has followed suit, penning a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2015.

Launchbury, who is expected to make his England debut against Fiji on Saturday, said: “I had no hesitation in extending my deal.

“There are some really good players for me to learn from here in our pack and I feel very confident with the talent we have here in the squad and the coaching set up that we are part of something that is really building in a positive direction.”

And now Wasps hope that their other key performers whose contracts expire this summer follow Launchbury’s lead.

Director of rugby Dai Young said: “It’s that time of year where there is going to be huge speculation about who is coming and going.

“Every year you’re going to have important players coming out of contract and this year is no different and next year will be no different again.

“We’ve got to work hard to make sure we keep our important players. That’s part of my job and part of the club’s job as well.

“From our point of view we’ve got no desire to lose any of our important players.”
