MARLOW host Flackwell Heath tomorrow in the last of a four-part series this season.

They edged the third episode on penalties last Saturday after losing the first two games earlier in the season, and manager Mark Bartley is determined to level it up tomorrow.

He said: “We didn’t get the result in the league that we wanted at their place, and we’re eager to put that right.

“We’ll take a lot of confidence from our last two games against them and I’m really looking forward to it.

“They will be tough though, and we won’t be under-estimating them.”

Marlow lost 3-1 in the league back in August and were also beaten in the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy last month.

But a penalty shoot-out win in the Challenge Cup last weekend went some way to redressing the balance.

Ryan Crockford’s goal meant it was 1-1 after 90 minutes and with neither side able to break through in extra time it went to penalties.

Bartley said: “We’d missed five penalties in a row prior to that game so we weren’t too confident.”

But Ben Gladwin, Marcus Mealing, Adam Cashin-Murray and Nathan Ashton all scored from the spot before Danny Lingwood won it in sudden death.

Bartley said: “We’re happy to have finally got the result there. We thoroughly deserved it, albeit we had to go through extra time and penalties.

“We were the better side but it was just one of those games where the ball didn’t go over the line.”

Marlow backed up that win with a 4-1 league victory over Highmoor Ibis on Monday night.

Gladwin scored two of the goals, with Smith and Mealing also on target.

That win took them six points clear at the top, although Slimbridge have a game in hand.
