DESPITE flood warnings throughout the country this week, High Wycombe RFC’s Bucks Cup semi-final with Marlow on Saturday will almost certainly go ahead.

Their Kingsmead ground is famous for its drainage and secretary Don Dickerson says he can only remember one or two games called off because of a water-logged pitch in his 50-odd years at the club.

He said: “We should be alright. When it rains it goes straight through, it doesn’t lay.

“Even if it pours on Friday it should be ok by Saturday afternoon.”

The match is due to kick-off at the earlier time of 2pm to allow for extra time.
