WYCOMBE’S Ben Smith will fight for the British title for the second year running.

He earned a unanimous decision win over Adam Cope in the semi-final in Hartlepool on Saturday to book his place in the final next Friday.

High Wycombe Boxing Club coach John MacInnes said: “We are very proud of Ben (inset) reaching another national final.

“He has been coming to the club at 6am to train before school then again at 6.30pm every night to work on his techniques with fellow coach Adrian Moco, and his talent, hard work and dedication are pushing him to the top.

“The semi-final was one of the hardest bouts he has had but he delivered an almost punch-perfect display to reach the final.”

Meanwhile, club mate Brendan May won his debut bout and Naeem Kayani was edged out on his debut.
