WYCOMBE Hockey Club are still rooted to the foot of the South Hockey League after losing 5-3 at home to the team directly above them in the table.

They lost 5-3 to Banbury, with Dan Andrews (2) and Justin Brown their scorers.

That result has left them three points adrift at the foot of the table nearly half-way through the season.

Tomorrow they go to fourth-placed Tulse Hill and Dulwich.

Meanwhile, Joe Thomas netted at Wycombe 2s drew 1-1 with Maidenhead while Scott Anderson and Murad Vassib were among the scorers in Wycombe 3’s 5-4 defeat to Bicester.

Wycombe 4s also lost, 4-2 to Witney with Raza Sheikh and Paul Thomas on target, while Wycombe 5s edged Oxford 1-0.

Elsewhere, Harry Bennett scored the consolation in Wycombe 6’s 6-1 loss to Ramgarhia and Richard Bibby (2), Kevin O’Linn, Damian Power and Olly Britnell helped Wycombe 7s to a 5-0 win over Staines.

Meanwhile, Marlow 2s went top of the table with a 4-2 triumph over Maidenhead 2s, but they had to sweat blood to get it after going 2-0 down inside ten minutes.

The deficit might have even been greater, but a second-half surge took them top as Tom Packer, Rob Gerrits, Ben Dawson and Aman Sood all scored to secure the points.

Marlow 3s were also victorious, beating Banbury 3s 3-1 thanks to goals from Rob Walls, Gaz Baber and Oscar Ancliff to remain second.

Continuing the winning theme at Pound Lane, Marlow Ladies took the points against Windsor Ladies courtesy of a 2-1 win.

Anna Mortimer put them 1-0 up but a catalogue of chances came and went before Windsor hit back ten minutes from time.

But Marlow found their second wind and Treena Partridge’s goal continued their unbeaten run and moved them four points clear.

Elsewhere, Marlow Strollers hooked Maidenhead Merlins 3-0 thanks to Rob Minns Henry Ormond and Paul Peplow.
