SIMON Thomas scored a hat trick and the returning Inih Effiong bagged a brace as Chesham United went goal crazy at St Albans.

The Generals led 2-1 at the break after Thomas notched twice, with the first coming from the penalty spot, before they ran riot in the second half.

Effiong, recently signed from Boreham Wood on an 18 month contract, scored twice in five minutes and Thomas wrapped up his hat trick with a second penalty.

St Albans pulled one back before Chesham keeper Shane Gore saved the game's third spot kick - from where United broke rapidly and Michael Chennells added a sixth.

It was a tale of two penalties at Holloways Park as well as landlords Beaconsfield SYCOB met tenants Slough Town.

Danny Burnell gave Slough a half time lead from the spot but Nathan Poulton levelled the scores with another penalty eight minutes after the break.

Chalfont St Peter got 2013 off to a winning start as Remmell Clarke and Glenn Yala both scored in the first half of a 2-1 win at Chertsey.
