HIGH Wycombe RFC eased their South West 1 East relegation concerns with just their third victory of the season at the weekend.

They beat Witney 14-13 to move off the bottom of the table thanks to two tries in as many first-half minutes.

A penalty try got them going before Nick Robinson grounded Wycombe's second score to put them 14-0 up at half time.

Witney came back at them after the interval, but Wycombe just about held on ahead of Saturday's trip to league leaders Bracknell.

However, Marlow were crushed 51-3 at home by Windsor.

Meanwhile, in National League 3 South West, Amersham lost 35-7 at Barnstaple but Princes Risborough won a vital basement battle with Harwell, taking the points in the BB&O Premier League thanks to a 35-6 triumph.

Elsewhere, a new year didn't bring about new fortune for Beaconsfield as they lost narrowly again.

They were beaten 15-14 by Old Haberdashers, the seventh time in 13 defeats they've gone down by less than a score.
