BEV Childs continued a remarkable triathlon season with second place in the European Championships.

The Wycombe District Swimming Club star was competing in Kitzbuhel in the Alps, and after a fine 1,500m swim and 40km bike ride she was well-placed going into the run.

She said: “As I went through lap one my legs were screaming, but I was told that I was in second place so I had to dig deep and keep up the best pace I could “Good job I did, as when I crossed the finish line it was confirmed that I had the silver medal.”

Childs’ silver comes on the back of a string of fine results already this year.

She won her age group in the Grendon sprint event in Northampton in May, collected age group silver at Dorney Lake in the British Triathlon Sprint Championships and won another age group sprint event in Nottingham at the end of May.

She then warmed up for Austria with a victory in the Windsor triathlon.
