ENGLAND Women lost their one-off Test with India at Wormsley this week by six wickets.

The defeat stemmed from their first innings, when they were dismissed for just 92.

They got themselves back into the game by bowling India out for 114 in their first innings and then set the visitors a competitive target by scoring 202 in their second innings, with Jenny Gunn following her five-wicket haul with an unbeaten 62.

But Indian skipper Mithali Raj scored 50 not out to steer her side to victory.

England captain Charlotte Edwards said: “There was a huge amount of belief in the team [on the final] morning because of our previous experience of Test cricket but it just wasn’t to be.”
