BUCKS GB Women’s wheelchair star Louise Sugden is gearing up for her third and probably final Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016, and will continue the long wind up with a match against The Netherlands tomorrow to mark National Paralympic Day.

Sugden, who competed in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, has been part of the GB team for a decade.

But the 30-year-old, who helped GB to fifth in the World Championships in June, isn’t on the way out just yet.

She said: “I want to play in Rio and I believe this team could achieve something special there, but I’m not sure how much longer I will carry on after that.

“There is a huge amount of talent coming through. At training recently I was the only player over 25 so the future is really strong and that’s very encouraging.”

The Netherlands won bronze in London and Sugden thinks Saturday’s game at the Copper Box will be a perfect barometer.

She said: “The Netherlands are ranked two places ahead of us so it will be a tough game but we are confident we can perform well.”

National Paralympic Day will be celebrated with a day of Paralympic sport and disability arts in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. To buy tickets for the Paralympic sport, log on to www.axs.com/national-paralympic-day.
