BUCKS drivers Jack Goff and Tom Ingram enjoyed promising but ultimately frustrating weekends in the British Touring Car Championships in Rockingham at the weekend.

Goff was in particularly fine form as he raced to tenth in race one and 13th in race two.

He was on course for an even better finish in race three before car failure forced his retirement in the final lap of race three when he was placed ninth.

Meanwhile, Ingram came home 13th in the first race but failed to finish race two.

That meant he started down the grid in race three, but shot through the field to come home 11th.

He said: “After gaining some early ground, I fought hard throughout, looking for gaps and focussing on making the most of every single opportunity. It was really encouraging to get so close to the top ten in the end, although obviously also a little frustrating to just miss out – all we needed was a few more yards and we’d have pulled ahead.”

Goff and Ingram are now 14th and 15th in the BTCC standings, separated by just two points.

Goff said: “Top ten is where I’m aiming for at the end of the year.

“We’ve got two weekends to go, six races, and with touring cars anything can happen.

“There are a lot of good drivers on the grid. There are 31 drivers and there is very stiff competition.

“We’re all out there for the same reason. We all want to win.”

The penultimate round takes place at Silverstone at the end of this month before the BTCC season finishes at Brands Hatch on October 10 and 11.
