SAIF Zaib scored a century for High Wycombe on Saturday to cap another memorable few days for the 15-year-old all-rounder.

He smashed 103 from 107 balls to steer High Wycombe to a two-wicket victory over Slough on the final day of the season.

Alex Morgan added 59 Gavin Baker ended with figures of 4-46 as the London Road club pipped Slough to second place, but Zaib was the star.

He stuck 11 fours and two sixes in the victory, to follow up a remarkable day at Lord’s last week when he and RGS High Wycombe schoolmate Mark Eteen made history by playing on opposite sides in a match between MCC School and England schoolboys.

England won the match at a canter, with Eteen dismissed for two during testing batting conditions and Zaib taking a wicket in his first over.

RGS Head Roy Page said: “This is an immense achievement for both Saif and Mark that honours their dedication and skilled sportsmanship. “I am not aware of any school who has had two boys play on opposing teams in this annual fixture before and so those young men created a little bit of sports history that day.

“It was a pleasure to watch them play at Lords and I know their game will inspire others to follow in their footsteps for years to come.”

Both players have enjoyed stunning seasons for the school, with each setting new batting records.

Zaib’s 230 against RGS Newcastle was a new high score while Eteen now holds the record for the most number of centuries – he has scored nine in total and four for the first team.

He has also averaged more than 90 this season.
