CHALFONT St Peter believe they could be a banana skin for high-flying Hungerford Town in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie.

Big-spending Hungerford are fifth in the Southern Premier League and will arrive in Bucks expecting a smooth ride into the next round.

But Saints boss Danny Edwards thinks they might be in for a rude surprise.

He said: “Hungerford are a good side and will come here expecting to walk it but we could be a banana skin for them.

“We have a good record in cup competitions and it’s always nice to be at home. You can take the opposition out of their comfort zone a little bit and that’s what we need to do.

“Andy Leese [Chesham boss] has been very good and given us some advice about Hungerford and I think they are gettable.”

Saints will also be buoyed after finding some decent form lately after a turbulent first ten days to the season.

They were beaten at home on the opening day and then lost a 2-0 lead against Aylesbury a few days later.

However, they have picked up since then and peaked with a 4-1 away victory over North Greenford United last Saturday.

They added another away point with a 1-1 draw at AFC Hayes on Tuesday and are now unbeaten in four matches.

Edwards said: “We’re getting there. We’ve had some difficult injuries so had to switch things around and it’s been a difficult start to the season.

“We still haven’t clicked yet but on Saturday we were outstanding. It was our best performance of the season and we’ve now taken eight points from 12.

“We could have taken more than a point from Beaconsfield and Hayes and if we’d turned those draws into wins we’d be sixth now.

“I’d have taken that because we haven’t got going yet, although we’ve only lost one game since the first match of the season.”

Aaron Lansiquot, Remmel Clarke, Glenn Yala and Alan Hedley scored on Saturday with Lansiquot netting again on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Beaconsfield go to Godalming looking for some positive vibes after they lost 5-2 to Bedworth on Saturday and 3-1 at Royston on Tuesday.

Manager Andy Hurley said: “We played some of the best football we’ve played all season in the first half at Royston but then got overpowered in the second half.

“But we’re not going to panic. We knew it wouldn’t happen overnight but it’s nice to have a cup game now.

“We did well in the last game and if you have a cup run you can bring that form back to the league.

“We’re going there full of confidence.”
