ROB Miller was one of Wasps’ big-name arrivals in the summer; on Sunday he retraces his steps to take on his former team-mates at Sale.

However, the England Saxon who came to Wasps as a full back could find himself operating at ten.

He finished last week’s match at fly half and with Alex Lozowski ruled out with injury Miller is the obvious choice as Andy Goode’s understudy.

He said: “You understand your role as a professional player. Sometimes you have to fill in as and when you’re needed and everyone understands that.

The good thing here is we’ve got a lot of variety with people who can play in different places, myself included. So if injuries do occur we’ve got that flexibility.

“I haven’t played fly half too much in the past, but I used to play there when I was younger.

“It’s just making sure you know all the calls and are clear. But we’ve got enough leaders around to help out, with people in the forwards taking control and Joe Simpson at nine.

“It’s a big responsibility but we’re all working towards the same thing.”

Miller was at Sale for four years before moving to Adams Park.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed the start of the season. The games we’ve lost we could have won.

“But we turned over a big Northampton side and getting back to winning ways at the weekend was good.

“It’s going to a little bit strange going back on Sunday. I’ve got a lot of close friends there and had a lot of good times there.

“But we all move on and I’ll go up there and concentrate on my own job.

“It’s a massive game for us. The league is so tight. We got a win last weekend and jumped up four or five places.”
