CHESHAM United take on Frome Town on Saturday hoping that Tuesday’s friendly defeat to Hemel Hempstead won’t cast a shadow over them.

They lost 6-1, and manager Andy Leese admits the players didn’t make the most of the game.

He said: “Hemel extremely good side. They worked hard and took it seriously and some of our players didn’t.

“The attitude of some of the players wasn’t right but I don’t regret the exercise. It was a chance to get game time into some of the players and try a few things out.

“Maybe some of the players might regret their actions.”

After Frome, Chesham host struggling Histon on Tuesday.

Leese said: “The gap is opening. We need to put a run of three of four wins together to catch up.

“I know the players are good enough.”

Meanwhile, Marlow return to action in Southern League Central against Royston.
