Amersham & Chiltern are offering free entry to their games for all Wasps season ticket holders.

Wasps fans will also be given free parking at the Weedon Lane.

Former Wasps and England star Josh Lewsey played his early rugby at the club, which now has more than 1,400 members and 22 teams.

Meanwhile, the first team has now lost five games in row but they are drawing as much encouragement as they can from last weekend’s gutsy defeat to the league leaders.

Richie Williams’ team were among the early pace setters in National League 3 London & South East, but they have been on a downward spiral ever since their victory at Westcliffe.

Defeats to London Irish Wild Geese, CS Rugby 1863 and Guernsey followed before they shipped 50 points to Tonbridge Juddians.

Leaders Westcombe Park were next up and another hammering seemed possible.

But Amersham found their form again in a brave 33-20 defeat.

A penalty gave Westcombe an early lead before Rhys Keith profitted from James Carty’s pass to run home from 40m.

A penalty apiece moved the score on to 8-6 before the visitors moved in front with their first try.

Amersham’s Tony Machedo was yellow-carded for infringing in the build-up, and when Ross Bugden was also sent to the sin bin the writing was on the wall.

A second Westcombe Park try made it 18-8 at the break and a try and penalty early in the second period put the game to bed at 26-8.

Amersham didn’t buckle though.

Keith went over for his second try of the afternoon and Machedo made up for his earlier misdemenour with their third try.

Suddenly it was 26-20, but they weren’t able to complete the comeback when what would have been a scoring pass was intercepted for a length-of-the-field Westcombe try.

Amersham aren’t in action this Saturday, but their second team take on Milton Keynes in the Bucks Cup, ko 12.30.
