BEACONSFIELD SYCOB are off the foot of the table after ending an eight-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over North Greenford United.

However, they were made to wait for the three points, with Aaron Berry’s winner not arriving until injury time.

Manager Andy Hurley said: “The previous Saturday we played well at Rugby but lost to a controversial goal in the 93rd minute.

“Then on Monday we drew with Godalming, who are third, and put in another really good performance.

“On Saturday for the first time we were able to put the same team out. We played really well again and thankfully this time it was us who got the late goal.”

Beaconsfield are now one point clear of bottom side AFC Hayes and level on points with North Greenford United but with an inferior goal difference.

Hurley said: “We’ve looked settled and well-balanced in the last three games, so hopefully we can kick on against Northwood on Saturday.

“I definitely feel more confident now. We just need to get ourselves away from the relegation zone but if we carry on playing like we have been then I’m sure we will.

“We’re not out of trouble yet, not by a long way, and we know it’s going to be a bumpy ride this season.

“But our aim is just to stay up.”
