TYRRELL Hatton is inside the top 30 after the first of four Final Series tournaments, the BMW Masters in Shanghai, China.

That earned him 87,000 points which he will carry forward with the WGC-HSBC Champions taking place in Shanghai this weekend, followed by the Turkish Airlines Open next weekend before the European Tour concludes at the DP World Tour Champions in Dubai from November 20-23.

In total, the elite field that qualified for the Final Series will share more than £30m between them.

Hatton is on course to take a substantial slice of that cake after rounds of 73, 67, 71 and 71 for a share of 28th place after the first event.

This is Hatton’s first season on the European Tour and he has taken his chance with both hands.

A handful of top ten finishes secured his card for next season with months to spare while it almost unheard of for a rookie to secure a place in the Final Series.

The Marlow star could also end the season by being named Rookie of the Year.
