THE Wooburn Club won the Fours Competition night for the third year running last week, as Jason Hine, Rob Brereton, Dan Franzen and Andy Long came through a tough evening on top.
More than 80 players took part, but it was the Wooburn Club who provided the strength as both their teams reached the final.
Hine, Brereton, Franzen and Long beat RAFA Club 2-1 in their first match and then won their semi-final against Totteridge SC (Paul Tubb, Steve Woods, Rich Parcell and Ade Darby) by the same score.
But that set up an inter-club clash after Wooburn Club’s Phil Burton, Mark Luckett, Gary Jelly and Leigh Birch also won through to the final.
They beat Cressex E, Winchmore Hill, Marlow Legion and Holmer Green Legion A on the night, before they went down to their clubmates as Franzen threw the winning double.
