Frieth Cricket Club honoured fallen cricket star Phillip Hughes at their end of season dinner on November 28.

Members of the club paid tribute to the Australian - who tragically died after being hit in the neck by the ball whilst batting in a Sheffield Shield match in Sydney – before celebrating the achievements of a number of players.

Ben Hughes, Amar Ghafoor, Phil Richardson and Harry Williams all picked up awards at the bash held at St Katharine’s in Patmoor, whilst Iain McKenzie collected the John Stokes Trophy for Clubman of the Year.

Club chairman Ben Smiley said: "As a celebration of our cricketing year and our player’s achievements, the end of season dinner is a popular date for both players and supporters of the club, and it was only proper to acknowledge the recent tragedy Australia."
