Amersham & Chiltern lost for the ninth consecutive time on Saturday as Gravesend became the latest team to leave Weedon Lane victorious this season.

Richie Williams’ team have won only once on home turf this season – back in September – and have lost all their subsequent home fixtures with the weekend becoming loss number five.

After winning three of their opening four games in National League 3 London & SE Amersham have failed to add another point to the tally which sees them lie 11th in the table.

On Saturday Gravesend took the initiative after a scoreless opening 20 minutes when a break through the centre ended in a try for winger Temi Okenla.

They weren’t ahead for long, however, as shortly after the restart Jack Kenyon touched down following some swift passing play from a line-out.

The visitors regained the lead just before half-time as they were awarded a penalty try following a series of collapsed scrums to leave the score at 12-5 with the conversion successfully added.

The second half was a scrappy affair with the home side picking up two yellow cards at separate stages of the half, but they did manage to reduce the deficit when Kenyon stepped up to kick a penalty.

Amersham couldn’t kick on, though, and it was Gravesend who added to their lead with a penalty of their own late on.

Williams’ side have the chance to stop the rot on Saturday when they take on bottom of the table Tring.
