Two members of High Wycombe Boxing Club helped the Home Counties floor Scotland when they travelled north of the border to compete in the Western District Championships.

Jack Durham and Igne Vaitkunati both won their bouts as the Home Counties secured a 5-4 win overall at the tournament, which was held on January 23.

Vaitukunati entered the ring to face Jade Stanley, an opponent who had triumphed when the pair first met two years ago, and produced a superb display to win by a unanimous points decision.

Her club compatriot Durham followed suit with a unanimous points victory of his own with a win against local favourite Blair Rocks.

Coach John MacInnes said: “It was a great event for our boxers to be a part of and to gain a bit of international experience.

“It's always an honour for any of our squad to represent the Home Counties and Jack and Igne have done themselves and the club proud.”

More good news for the club arrived on Friday when 24-year-old Lewis Frimpong slayed South Oxhey’s Chris Bellotti courtesy of a technical knock-out at Cheshunt sports centre.
