AFC Marlow overcame a disappointing start to reach the semi-final of the Berks and Bucks FA Sunday Junior Cup. They found themselves a goal behind when quarter-final opponents Richfield FC’s speedy striker converted. The hosts then doubled their lead prior to half-time when a goal keeping misjudgement by Callun Akerman resulted in the score being 2-0.

The score remained this way until 70 minutes when Billy Mason halved the deficit with a majestic strike from the edge of the area. With five minutes remaining James Turner headed home the equaliser to send the game into extra time.

Marlow always looked the more likely to make it into the last four and were rewarded when Jonathan Watts struck home a sparkling free-kick. Marlow’s 3-2 extra time victory sets up a contest against Roebuck FC of Reading & District League. Fellow combination side Italia Unita Reserves failed to join them after slipping to a 5-1 loss against Aylesbury Flooring.
