Nas Bashir says there will be no decision on who the next manager of Beaconsfield SYCOB will be until the club is safe from relegation.

The former Reading academy coach, who took the managerial reigns at Holloways Park after Gary Meakin was dismissed at the beginning of March, has overseen three draws and a defeat to leave them looking over their shoulders in Southern One Central.

Bashir runs the FAB Academy which supply players for Beaconsfield’s first team, and he is keen that the club get the business done on the pitch before they get down to business off it.

He said: “We’ve been speaking to a few people but what we want to try and do first is consolidate in this league for next season. Once we’ve done that we will be in a better position to speak to people.

“We’ve identified a couple of people and we’ve had a few people ring up so we have a few people in mind that we’re going to speak to. Most importantly we need to secure ourselves in this league, which is what we’re aiming to do this Saturday.

“In the background there is a lot of building for next season but obviously we want to stay in this league and when we’ve done that we’ll be looking to appoint a new manager.”

The third bottom Rams are eight points above the relegation zone with five matches remaining, meaning that they need nine more points to guarantee their safety.

“We still need three points, and we’re going into every game trying to get something out of every game,” said Bashir.

“We’re not resting on our laurels and we’re just worrying about what we do. I’ve never been one to worry about anyone else’s scores.

“We will try and win every game and I think we possibly need three points maybe six. If we just worry about what we’re doing I’m sure we will be fine.”

The interim manager watched his side fall to a 3-1 defeat at home to Royston Town on Saturday afternoon.

With some of the team’s players away on a tour with FAB in Norway and top scorer Victor Osubu absent, Bashir said his options were “thin on the ground” for the play-off chasers visit.

All four goals came in the first half with Aaron Barry pulling one back for SYCOB from the penalty spot after Royston had built up a two-goal lead.

The Becky boss said: “We didn’t get off to a very good start, I felt we were a bit flat but they are one of the best sides in the league.

“I think Royston and Rugby are the best two sides we’ve played this year. We knew it was going to be a tough game, we didn’t get off to a very good start and gave away two poor goals to start off with.

“The second half showed the spirit and endeavour that I expect and we did a lot better. We defended better in the second half, and they had their backs to the wall but we just couldn’t break them down.”

Beaconsfield’s final five starts with a trip to 18th place Daventry Town on Saturday.
