Australia's over 60s side are to take on their Buckinghamshire counterparts on Friday as they continue their tour of the country.

The Aussies will be pitching up at Beaconsfield at 1pm for a 45 overs a side match looking to continue their excellent form on English shores.

They have won all of the matches they have played against veterans sides from across the English counties.

In contrast Buckinghamshire go into the contest off the back of a losing run - albeit one which included narrow defeats for both their first and second XIs last week.

Steve Lynch played a captain's innings for the 1s but his magnificent unbeaten 149 wasn't enough to get past Middlesex's imposing total.

Middlesex batted first and reached 260-2 off their 45 overs to set a challenging task for Bucks - made even harder when they lost an early wicket.

That brought Lynch to the crease at number three and he and John Rolfe set about chasing down the total.

Rolfe eventually fell for 75 to put Bucks into contention, but a lower order collapse left Lynch without any more batting partners and Middlesex squeaked to victory by just three runs.

The 2s suffered a similarly agonising defeat at the hands of league leaders Hampshire.

Batting first, Brian Ralphs of Hawridge and Cholesbury (41), Chesham's John Pothecary (41), Steve Coleman of Penn and Tylers Green (23) and captin Ron Hedley (20) all made good contributions in a final score of 210-7 off 45 overs.

Hampshire wickets fell at regular intervals but Bucks failed to take full advantage as a few misfields at vital times allowed their hosts to stay in the game.

A last wicket stand of 25 managed to get Hampshire home with nine wickets down and just three balls to spare.
