High Wycombe skipper Nathan Hawkes says he is aiming to surpass the 800-run mark after hitting his second century of the season against Banbury on Saturday.
The captain, who is in his first season at the club after joining from Oxford, has been in scintillating form with the bat in his first five Home Counties Division One innings, racking up 311 runs.
Hawkes’ unbeaten 107 on the weekend followed up a knock of 100 not out against his old team earlier in the season.
The 26-year-old is currently ninth on the top run scorers list in the Home Counties but his average of 155.50 has not been bettered by anyone else.
He said: “For me, to get a couple of hundreds in the first seven games – I’m feeling alright with the stick.
“I don’t think I’ve got two hundreds in the league in the first half of the season and I’m probably hitting the ball as well as I’ve ever hit it.
“If we don’t have any more games washed out and if the weather doesn’t affect us then I don’t see why I couldn’t reach the 800-mark.”
