A cracking cast of cricketing talent is heading Amersham’s way once again as the Lashings All-Stars roll into town on July 24.

A host of international players such as Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris, Devon Malcolm, Corey Collymore and Saqlain Mushtaq wowed crowds at Amersham Cricket Club last year, beating the local side by 31 runs.

Lashings, who will be captained by former England all-rounder Phil DeFreitas, have since added former West Indian pace man Tino Best, Pakistan’s Yasir Arafat and Michael Carberry, who played for England as recently as last year, to their star-studded ranks.

The All-Stars final line-up has yet to be confirmed, but Amersham are likely to be welcoming back former Australian international Damien Fleming, who played for the club as their overseas player during the 1990s.

The 20-over a side match, which will take place at Shardeloes, begins at 3pm with gates opening at 1.30pm.

Henry Blofeld provided commentary of the match last year and the club are hopeful of welcoming the 75-year-old broadcaster back to the club this time round.

The game might be the centre of attention on the day, but there will also be other forms of entertainment on offer with face paint, an ice cream van, music and competitions going on throughout the afternoon.

Those present will also have the opportunity to meet the players and get pictures and autographs with the Lashings All-Stars.

Entrance to the ground is priced at £5 for non-members and is free for members and under-14s.
