Gerrards Cross won their local battle against Amersham on Saturday after recording an emphatic 135 run win.

Matt Watson’s team batted first and posted 206 all out after 58 overs, with Malkeet Dhaliwal top scoring with 52.

Amersham kept the run rate below four an over as Maduka Liyanapathiranage bowled an economical 25-over spell, conceding only 56 runs and taking eight wickets.

The Sri Lankan all-rounder top scored with the bat in the visitors’ reply, making 28 as his side collapsed to 71 all out in the 21st over.

The victory takes Cross up to second in Home Counties Division Two, 22 points ahead of seventh place Amersham.
