Wycombe Phoenix Harriers bought the Youth Development League season to a close with a strong final meet ensuring a third place finish overall.

The club, who compete in the Southern region North-East division, journeyed to Hemel Hempstead for the fourth and final round of the lower age group section and returned home with a plethora of personal bests.

Kirsten Stilwell performed so well that she clocked the third fastest time in the under-13 age group in the country this year, winning the 1200m in a time of 3 minutes 51 seconds.

The other outstanding performance came from the under-15 girls 4x300m relay team of Scarlett Storr, Grace Storr, Maisie Pennant and Olivia Lowrie.

The Wycombe quartet’s time of 2:58 beat the club record and saw them rise 44 places in the national rankings to tenth.

There were personal bests in the field events for Jacob Sanderson, Alex Presho, Ana Montgomery (all javelin), Oliver Saunders, Conor Stables (both discus), Toby Holden (hammer), Edward O’Neill (shot-put), Nicholas Mitchell, Kitty Conrory (long jump) and Hatty Bell (high jump).

Further PBs on the track for Mitchell, Joe Style (both 800m), Sanderson (1500m), Alex Mitchell, Ella Griffin (70 and 75m hurdles), Isaac MacDonald, Grace Storr and Lowrie (all 200m) helped the club finish the meet fourth out of seven clubs.
