A classy innings from Imran Ali helped Little Marlow secure a draw against Pinner in the Morrants Chiltern Cricket League on Saturday.

The opener struck eight boundaries in a measured knock of 68 before he was eventually removed, by which time he had helped ensure the draw that keeps them fifth in Division Three.

Chasing 246 to win, Ali and fellow opening bat Mohammed Yaqoob, who played equally as well for his 69, put on 110 for the first wicket.

After the latter had been caught, Arfan Sharif came to the crease and shared a stand of 51 with Ali before the opener was bowled.

Tahir Rashid heade back to the pavilion having made only five before Sharif and Steve Shore (8*) took the score past 200.

The number three eventually fell two runs short of his half century, with Andrew St Maur (1) also departing before the visitors closed on 214-5, 32 runs short of victory.

Earlier in the day, captain Jack Goss had elected to field after winning the toss and he led by example, finishing with figures of 2-42.

St Maur (1-30), Yaqoob (1-32) and Adnan Rahmann, who took 2-49 from ten overs, offered able support as Pinner reached 245-7 from 52 overs.

Little Marlow now have a two week break from action before they host Holyport on August 15.
