MARLOW’S Tyrrell Hatton finished as the second best Englishman at the US PGA Championship at Whistling Straits.
He tied 25th in the competition, with Justin Rose the only Englishman to finish above him. He was also the third best performing Brit behind Rory McIlroy.
Hatton, who came agonisingly close to a hole in one on the par three 17th, when his shot just lipped out, finished ahead of a long list of illustrious names including Tiger Woods, Sergio Garcia, Jim Furyk, Ricky Fowler and Lee Westwood.
It was the first time in five attempts that Hatton had made the cut at a Major and having broken that duck he rose to the occasion.
Hatton tweeted: “Well it took five attempts but finally made the cut in a major.”
