Wycombe Squash & Racketball Club (WSRC) were powerless to resist Gerrard’s Cross as they lost 15-9 in the Bucks Squash League Division One last weekend.

Freddie Evans got WRSC off to a strong start with a 3-1 win over Rory Fisher before Cross’ Stewart Hefferman and Michael Burnett recorded 3-0 and 3-1 wins respectively.

WRSC’s Stuart Burnett got his side back in it with a 3-1 win over Steve Wright but Andy Peers won 3-1, and secured a bonus point, to seal the victory for Cross.

They have started the campaign with three wins and sit just two points behind last year’s champions Aylesbury Grammar School who won 19-5 against Beaconsfield Lions.

Division Two champions Wycombe Nomads lost away to the RAF. The sides could not be separated at 10-10 but the RAF’s 3-2 lead in individual matches meant they won 14-10 overall.

Holmer Green Seconds moved up to second place in the division behind Chesham Bois Mavericks by virtue of a 15-8 win.

Wycombe Ladies Seconds opened their campaign in the Ladies’ Division Two with a 9-9 draw against a combined Windsor and Farnham Common team with Fleur Drummer and Helen Cardy both recording wins.

In the Berkshire Squash League Division 2A Temple Wycombe were on the receiving end of a 20-1 thrashing from Burghfield Firsts who they had trailed by seven points in the league.

The result sees Burghfield extend their lead at the summit of the league over Caversham who beat Meadway Seconds 17-6.

In the Vets Division Three, Tunbridge Wells Vets lost 17-8 against league leaders Hart in spite of a 3-0 win for Simon Miller and close 3-2 losses for Mark Merriman and Tim Morgan.
