Chesham Grammar School’s year sevens are dreaming of winning the Bucks Schools Football County Cup after beating Bourne End Academy 2-1 to reach the quarter-final.

Goals from Freddie Poston and Sean Patten capped a solid defensive display and meant that Chesham booked a home tie against John Hampden Grammar School in the next round.

The year seven football team coach, Steven Miles, said: “I am delighted how quickly the year sevens have settled into both a new school and good habits as a football team.

“There is a real collective purpose about how the team are playing at the moment which will serve them well through the cup competition and in future years.”

The game was notable for the togetherness Chesham showed in defence and this was epitomised by Captain Matthew Nunn who led his team impressively.

The team were also wearing a brand new kit sponsored by Specsavers and would like to thank the company for their contribution.
