Wycombe Squash and Racket Club (WSRC) firsts made it four wins on the bounce in an enthralling match against Chesham Bois 1A.

WSRC took the tie by a score of 15-10 but were made to battle every step of the way to secure the points.

Freddie Evans kicked off proceedings with a 3-1 win before Chesham captain Dan Colquhoun picked up a 3-0 win against Wycombe’s Stuart Burnett.

The big win for Chesham’s skipper was slightly deceiving in a even encounter that saw scores of 11-9, 12-10 and 11-9 across its duration.

Paul Boden then picked up a 3-2 win against Simon Miller before George Goodchild matched that score with a hard-fought win over Will Gardener.

Mike Hallet and Sam Pothecary were left to fight over the bonus points with Hallet eventually picking up a 3-1 win.

Wycombe moved into second place and are still someway behind leading club Aylesbury Grammar School who will be top going into the New Year with a game in hand.

Beaconsfield Lions finally picked up a win as they beat Holmer Green by a score of 16-7 while Chesham Bois 1B climbed out of the bottom three with a shock win against Gerrards Cross.

The 14-9 victory over the second placed side came as a surprise considering the Lions’ poor recent form.

In Division Two the battle behind dominant league leaders, Chesham Bois Mavericks, was in full flow with Farnham Common, Chesham Bois Seniors, WSRC Nomads and Beaconsfield Tigers all picking up wins.

None of the sides can lay a serious claim to being contenders for the title at this stage, and have work to do to apply pressure to the Mavericks at the top of the table.

Finally, Wycombe Ladies Seconds secured another victory as they strolled to a 16-2 result against Beaconsfield Spots.

Fleur Drummer and Brenda Ede both put in classy performances as they collected 3-0 wins in their respective clashes.

Alison Vadas survived a scare as she won 3-2 against Kaneetha Lian after the Spots player had fought back admirably from a losing position.

Wycombe sealed the final points of the emphatic win by default as the fourth match could not be played due to absentees.
