Amersham & Chiltern ran in 13 tries as they steamrollered Chingford by a score of 85-5 to ensure they finished 2015 top of the London One North.

Saturday’s win means Chiltern enjoy a three point lead at the summit of the league as they picked up their 13th bonus point of the season.

The home side ran in four tries within the first 25 minutes through Joe Butler, Zane Turner and a Sam Portland double.

Portland completed his hat-trick late in the half after Chris jack had touched down and Chiltern had been awarded a penalty try to make the score 45-5 at the interval.

Another 40 points would follow in the second half as Tom Blackburn, who has been sidelined with an injury for 15 months, scored two tires.

A fourth for Portland as well as tries from Jordan Scott, Joe Winpenny and Butler’s second completed the comprehensive win.

Chiltern have now scored a league high 545 points and look in good shape to continue their chase for the title in 2016.

Their next step in achieving that goal comes against Luton on the second weekend of January and they will be confident of overcoming the league’s bottom side.

Elsewhere, Marlow’s patchy form continued as an in form Buckingham side recorded a 29-5 victory over them in the Southern Counties North.

The loss means Marlow have now won just one of their last five league matches and remain seventh in the table.

They are being increasingly cut adrift by the leading pack with the win seeing Buckingham move seven points clear of them in fifth.

Marlow will be in cup action when they return after the break as they host North Dorset.

In the same league Beaconsfield tightened their grip on a top four spot as they strolled to 39-12 win over relegation fighting Thatcham.

The result keeps Beaconsfield in touching distance of league leaders Aylesbury who they trail by just four points.

The B’s have now won four of their last five games, and will have the chance to show their title credentials when they take on the table toppers immediately after the festive break.

After two wins and a draw from their last three games High Wycombe’s resurgent form was brought to an abrupt end by Towcestrians in the South West One East.

They were comprehensively beaten 45-13 by the leagues most prolific side who sit at the top of the table.

Wycombe’s recent form had seen them put daylight between themselves and the chasing pack but they will now head into Christmas looking over their shoulders.

With 13th placed reading picking up a 38-18 win against Grove, Wycombe now find themselves only four points above the relegation zone.

Their next fixture is on Saturday, 2 January when they take on fifth placed Newbury Blues at home.
