Bucks’ under-13 girls enjoyed a memorable weekend as they recorded a famous win in the National Junior Squash Championships.

The team showed nerves of steel to overcome perineal county championship contenders Yorkshire and secure a long awaited county title.

Amy Pullen was particularly impressive as she held off a strong challenge from Amy Royle to secure a 3-2 win in the opening match of the final.

Olivia Phillips then narrowly missed out in an equally even match before Katie Maliff recorded a resounding victory over Asia Harris to seal the win.

In the Bucks League Division One, Aylesbury Grammar School’s dominance showed little sign of letting up as they hammered Chesham Bois 1A 19-2.

Gerrards Cross took the opportunity to move up to third in the table with a hard-fought 13-4 victory over Holmer Green.

In Division Two Wycombe Squash and Racket Club (WSRC) Nomads eased to a narrow 13-8 win over Farnham Common.

WSRC Drifters were less fortunate as they lost 15-9 against Holmer Green Seconds, while Beaconsfield Tigers humbled Chesham Bois 1879 to move up to third.

Wycombe Ladies recorded a double over Beaconsfield as they first picked up a comfortable 13-4 win before their second string eased to a 12-6 victory to complete a strong weekend.

In the Berkshire League Division 2A, second placed Temple Wycombe kept league leaders, Burghfield, within their sights with an 18-5 win over a struggling Beechdown side.

John Ould, Scott Osbourne and Matt Allanson were all in fine form as they all picked up bonus point wins.

The win keeps Temple’s hopes of catching Burghfield alive, but they are still 24 points behind the pace setters who boast a 100% record.
