The Chesham & District Inter Schools Cross Country Series entered its third round on Saturday at a muddy Hervines Park.

The year three boy’s race saw Alex Hughes of St. Mary’s eventually come out on top in a closely contested event.

Lex Thomas of Gerrards Cross came second and Gabriel Strutton-Smith completed the top three.

Little Kingshill’s Lily Jessop came first while Lily Webb of Chalfont St Peter and Isabel Dighe came in second and third respectively in the year three girl’s competition.

Meanwhile, George Beddoe was the standout performer in a packed field of over 80 runners that competed in the boy’s year four race. Max Baxter and Alfie Clifford completed the top three.

In the girl’s race Frankie Baxter of St. Mary’s continued her fine form for the season as she overcame Lucy Baker and Lesedi Nkoane.

Charlie Berens was in dominant form as he took gold in the year five boy’s race with Gateway’s Oakley Dickinson finishing second ahead of Thomas Redmond who picked up a bronze.

Maddie Hughes won her third gold of the series with an impressive showing in the year five event as she beat Hannah Ashby (second) and Rosa Williams (third).

Hughes’ medal haul was matched by Matt Aldred as he also made it three gold’s for the season, while twins Abbie and Holly Henderson came in first and second in the girl’s year six race.

The individual results meant that Gerrards Cross were the big overall winners as their year three boys and year six girls took home team gold medals.

The fourth meeting in the series takes place on Saturday, 12 March at Chesham’s Lowndes Park.
