Amersham & Chiltern remain top of the London One North table after being made to work for a 32-22 victory over CS Rugby 1863 on Saturday.

The win owed much to the fine kicking form of Andy Fluker as he recorded a 100% record of eight from eight from the kicking tee.

The early exchanges were evenly contested before Jordan Scott went over to help Chiltern to a 13-3 lead at the midpoint of the first half.

CS caught Chiltern off guard though and soon hit back with a try of their own before Fluker’s boot made it 19-10 at the interval.

Sam Portland touched down 20 minutes into the second half after a controlled catch and drive to leave Chiltern in a seemingly commanding position.

However, CS were back within striking distance after they scored two quick tries to take the score to 26-22.

Fluker again stepped up and delivered a pair of penalties to ease the visitor’s nerves and seal the win. Chiltern are now four points clear of closest rivals Tring and face Harrow at home tomorrow.

After three defeats in a row Southern Counties North side Marlow returned to winning ways as they came out on top against Stow-on-the-Wold.

With Marlow and Stow separated by just one place in the league, the match lived up to its even billing as Marlow came out on the right side of the 27-20 scoreline.

The win, Marlow’s first in 2016, owed much to the indiscipline of Stow as they were reduced to 14 men after receiving a yellow card in the second half.

Marlow took advantage of their extra man and scored two tries to take the game away from their opponents and come away with a win.

A losing bonus point means Stow are four points behind Marlow in the table. Marlow will hope to build on the momentum gained from the win when they take on Thatcham tomorrow.

In the same division Beaconsfield picked up a narrow 37-32 win at Bicester to stay third in the table.

Despite being pushed hard throughout the match, Beaconsfield led from early on in proceedings until the final whistle.

A late Bicester try led to a nervous conclusion to the match but Beaconsfield held out for a win and will hope for much of the same when they take on in form Bletchley in their next game.

A battling display was not enough for South West One East side High Wycombe as they lost 35-25 on the road at Windsor.

Wycombe are now just three points outside of the relegation places after Reading picked up a surprise losing bonus point against Oxford Harlequins.

The defeat adds extra importance to tomorrow’s trip to Swanage & Wareham, but Wycombe will back themselves to get a win against the league’s bottom side.
