Wycombe Abbey School enjoyed a successful end to January as they collected a host of awards form the British Schoolgirls Races in France.

The races, which took place at the resort of Flaine, saw the Buckinghamshire based school go up against over 35 other schools.

The two day event included racing across three different categories including giant slalom (GS), slalom and parallel slalom.

Madeline Points, 13, claimed top spot in the under-14 parallel slalom event, while 17-year-old Evie Clutton picked up a second place finish in the non-registered combined category.

It was a double success for Alisha Jani, 16, as she finished third in both the GS and combined under-18 non-registered races.

Abbey School had further reason to celebrate as they claimed three accolades in the team events including runner-up in the best non-registered team category, and third in the best GS and combined teams.

The British Schoolgirls Races is an important part of the alpine racing calendar and doing well on the French slops has often proved to be precursor to future success.

Olympian Chemmy Alcott has competed there in the past, as has Paralympic sight guide Charlotte Evans, and Abbey’s racers will surely have taken a great deal of experience from racing at the event.
