It was an important weekend of fixtures in the Bucks Squash League as the pursuit of titles and promotion went on in the season’s final stages.

Chesham Bois Mavericks’ serene progress to the Division Two title could not be slowed as they beat Wycombe Squash and Racket Club Nomads 16-9.

The victory has increased Chesham’s lead at the top of the division to 23 points and they will have every confidence of ending the season as champions.

Second placed Beaconsfield Tigers will still believe they can catch the division pace setters after picking up a 14-8 win over club-mates the Bulls.

The Tigers have two games left to play – one more than Chesham – and will be aware of the need to win both matches if they are to overturn the heavy points deficit.

It is a similar story in Division Three as Rivets head into the final matches of the season with a 22 point lead over Beaconsfield Trojans.

Much like the Mavericks in Division Two, Rivets have played one game more than their title rivals. Trojans kept up the pressure on Rivets with a 19-9 win over Chesham Bois Upstarts.

There was drama in Division 2A as Temple Wycombe headed into their final game of the season needing a big win to secure promotion.

Top performances form Adam Williams and Jon Ould set them on their way as the pair picked up respective 3-0 and 3-1 wins in their matches.

Petr Nedzarilik, George Goodchild and Simon Miller then backed their teammates’ efforts up as Temple secured a 20-2 win to earn maximum points.

Temple had done their part but they faced an anxious wait as a Royal Berks win would have seen them fall out of the promotion places.
