Penn & Tylers Green are celebrating a double success after both their First team and Reserve team won their respective league titles.
Penn’s reserve side were the first to claim their title as they hammered Flackwell Heath reserves 6-1 on Thursday night.
The convincing win, which was spearheaded by a hat-trick from Owen Wood, gave Penn an unassailable lead at the top of the Hellenic League Division Two East with two games to play.
Richard Davies, Shaun Walsh and substitute Simon Gray completed the scoring for the triumphant Penn.
After trouncing Didcot Town Reserves 6-0 on Thursday, Penn’s First team headed into their final match of the Hellenic League Division One East season on Saturday knowing a win would make them champions.
Despite the pressure cooker situation, they held their nerve and secured a comfortable 2-0 win over eighth placed Finchampstead FC.
The result leaves them seven points clear of closest rivals Bicester Town who, despite having two games in hand, cannot catch the division pace setters.
With just two defeats all season and a goal difference some 30 goals better than the next best team, there can be no doubt that Penn are deserving champions.
