Members of Amersham & Chiltern RFC were given the surprise of a lifetime as World Cup winner Josh Lewsey dropped in on one of their mini rugby sessions.

Lewsey, who represented Chiltern at junior level, was in attendance on Sunday to help out with the club’s annual end-of-season prize giving.

The former Wasps player also joined in with the final coaching sessions of the 2015-16 campaign and gave out a number of awards to the club’s younger players.

Amersham & Chiltern chairman Spike Stevens said: “It was great to see Josh back at the club and it was a fantastic experience for our young players to meet someone just like them who went on to win the most prestigious trophy in rugby.

“Our mini and junior sessions are thriving, with over 800 boys and girls currently playing from the under-5/6s through to the colts.

“It would be fantastic if some of them were to follow in Josh’s footsteps by representing their home nation.”

Three of the club’s players have already taken their first steps towards achieving such a heady goal by representing England in the under-17 age group.

Will Porter has perhaps made the biggest impression having featured against both Italy and France earlier this month.
