HIGH Wycombe Rugby Union Football Club returned from Poole in good spirits tasting success in a mini rugby tournament.

The event was attended by a variety of age groups going up to under-12 level, and they managed to bring a large crowd of vocal parents with them to cheer on the children.

The tournament was hosted by Poole Rugby Club and Poole Sports Tours over the weekend commencing Saturday, 2 April, and brought together rugby clubs from both England and Wales looking to claim silverware.

High Wycombe’s sides put in some great displays, with the under-12 and under-10 sides securing victory in their respective age groups.

Younger age groups were unlucky to miss out on similar success, as the under-8s finished as runners up in their group and the under-9s and under-11s were a whisker away from topping theirs.

Former England and Harlequins prop Jason Leonard made a special guest appearance to present the trophies to the winning teams.

High Wycombe RUFC are offering top class coaching in a community run club to anyone who is interested in getting their child involved with the sport in the junior category.

In an attempt to encourage more children to play, they will be commencing ‘Give it a Try’ sessions every Sunday morning at the club on Kingsmead Road.

The club is always embracing new members to join up and they are also inviting adults to apply for their Touch Rugby Competition, which will be held this summer.

Experience is not required, as they look to offer a great introduction to the game and a fun way to keep fit. For more information, visit www.hwrufc.com.
