Amersham & Chiltern’s season came to a glorious conclusion on Saturday as they were crowned London One North champions.

Chiltern sealed the triumph with a rampant 70-10 victory over Barking to finish the season one point ahead of closest rivals Tring.

The emphatic winning margin was secured by 12 tries as Joe Butler (3), Sam Portland (3), Andy Fluker, Tom Handford, Jordan Scott, Aaron Doyle, Zane Turner and Andy Zair helped themselves to scores.

The visitors wasted little time in making themselves at home as Butler touched down for the first of their tries inside the opening minute.

The score would start an avalanche of points for Chiltern as they ran in four more tries in the opening 19 minutes.

First, Portland accelerated past a static Barking defence to go over before Fluker got in on the act.

Chiltern were now just one try away from the bonus point win required to ensure they won the title and wasted little time in getting it.

Doyle led the charge and his searing break gave Portland the simplest of finishes for his second of the game.

Butler then scored to complete the barnstorming start before Handford and Turner also went over ahead of the half-time interval for a rampant Chiltern.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first as Scott got the try scoring ball rolling in the 47th minute.

Butler and Portland both completed their hat-tricks and the gloss was added to this most dominant of wins by Scott, Doyle and Zair’s tries.

The result saw Chiltern end their campaign with a record of 1038 points scored and they will now prepare for life back in the National League Three South-East next season.
