Excellent performances from High Wycombe teenagers Uzair Amjaid and Saif Zaib were not enough for Bucks as they lost by 21 runs against Wiltshire.

The defeat means Bucks miss out on the chance to reach the quarter-finals of the Unicorns Trophy.

Things looked dire from the start for Bucks as Wiltshire raced to 111-1 and looked in imperious form.

A burst of wickets from Amjaid, who finished with figures of 4-26, slowed their progress significantly though and Wiltshire were eventually all out for 192.

The total gave Bucks a real chance of collecting a much coveted win and but for a paucity of batting partners for Zaib they may well have done.

Having opened the batting Zaib scored a superb 89 from just 111 deliveries which included two sixes and seven fours.

It was the sort of knock which should have formed the bedrock of the Bucks reply, but only captain Michael Payne (28) looked like providing him with support.

Payne was the only other Bucks batsman to make it beyond the 20 run mark as they struggled to deal with the Wiltshire attack.

Zaib’s continued presence at the crease gave his side hope, but when he fell for the ninth wicket the game was up.

Bucks added just one run to their total after Zaib’s departure before the final wicket sealed their fate.
